The Law

When God tells us what to do and what not to do, we must obey Him. God will not put up with people who disobey Him. When people disobey God He punishes them. Sometimes people try to run away from God, but they cannot hide from Him. He sees them and He sees the bad things they do.
God’s law is very strict. It does not say that we should try to be good. It says that we must be good. We must love God more than we love anything else. We must also love our parents, brothers, and sisters, and friends. We must love even those who hate us and hurt us. We must love everyone as much as we love ourselves.
God’s law is also like a mirror. The law tells us that we have not obeyed it. It shows us that we have done wrong. We are sinners. We need a Savior to take our sin away.
Jesus is our Savior. He obeyed God’s law and He did it for us. Then He suffered for our sins by dying in our place. The law is not God’s final word to us! The good news is that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Parents:
Our children learn God’s law from us more than from any other people. They watch what we do and listen to what we say. We cannot teach God’s law to our children properly unless we teach them to confess their sins to God. We must do so as well. The law always accuses. We are always to confess our sins. God, for Christ’s sake, always forgives them.
