Jesus has a name that tells us who He is. He is our Lord. He is our Savior. That is what His name means. It means that Jesus is the Lord who save us. Jesus is God. He has always been the Son of the Father. Jesus is a man. He was born of the Virgin Mary. Since Jesus is God, He is stronger that any other man. He is strong enough to save us from everything that can hurt us. Jesus is stronger than the devil. He is stronger than sin.

Our sins hurt us more than anything else hurts us. We sin when we think, do, or say anything against God’s law. Our sins hurt us because they keep us away from God. Jesus saves us from our sins. He let our sins hurt Him. He suffered and died on the cross in our place. This is how He took our sins away. This is how He saved us.

Parents: Jesus’ name tells us how we should regard Him and teach Him to our children. Jesus is not a new Moses, or lawgiver. He is our Savior. When we teach God’s law to our children we should not portray Jesus as the lawgiver. We should always present Jesus as their Savior and rescuer, from sin, death and the devil.
