Bethany Lutheran College Auxiliary Day

Bethany Lutheran College invites anyone interested in learning more about the college to join us on Monday, September 27 at 9:00 am for the annual Bethany Auxiliary Day. The annual event is held on the Bethany Lutheran College campus in Mankato and features presentations by faculty and staff members, music performances from students and faculty, a delicious luncheon, and a business meeting where the Auxiliary chooses projects to support at the college.

Featured presenters for the 2004 Auxiliary Day are: Professor Erling Teigen, who will present interesting historical findings about Bethany and Mankato from his research collected during his recent sabbatical. The information will eventually be used for a book about Bethany. Also presenting is the Dean Of Admissions, Donald Westphal, who will talk about the growing student numbers at the college.

Officers of the Auxiliary include president Sonya Rank of Scarville, Iowa; Robin Ouren of Norseland, Minnesota, Vice President; Rebecca DeGarmeux of Mankato, Treasurer; and Diane Gullixson of Forest City, Iowa, serving as Secretary.

New Majors offered at Bethany

The Bethany Lutheran College Board of Regents has approved the addition of three new majors at the college: a dual-degree program with the University of Minnesota allowing Bethany to offer an engineering program; also majors in English and Psychology. With the addition of these new programs, Bethany now offers fifteen majors from which to choose.

Sports Teams set to compete in four-year conference

The Bethany Lutheran College athletic teams will begin play in a new conference this fall. Both the men's and women's teams will compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). Bethany completed a year of provisional conference membership during the 2003-04 school year and will now be a full-fledged member of the conference that also includes the College of Saint Scholastica, Duluth, Minnesota; Crown College, St. Bonifacious, Minnesota; Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota, Northland College, Ashland, Wisconsin; Northwestern College, Roseville, Minnesota; Presentation College, Aberdeen, South Dakota; and the University of Minnesota-Morris, MN.
